mechanical knight and stress

Every so often, we are reminded of the mechanical limits of technology which we are surrounded by and have come to love and depend on. I am not only talking about computers, or my computer, but in general, I find it striking how much we have come to depend on machines to fulfill our every-day needs.

Let's look at computers, for example. From my own personal experience I can say that when my internet is down, or my computer is unavailable, for whatever reason, I reach a point where I almost feel lost; or simply disconnected from the world. It's quite sad, actually, but it has become such an important part of my daily routine; messages I have to check (on various sites), websites and news I have to keep myself informed with and just online-doing, such as checking my blog for comments or think about what to write.

I will not be writing a story bit today, as I have to get up early tomorrow, and to be honest, I don't think I am in a space where it will take me somewhere. I would be taking it places, forcibly, which is not the point of the exercise. Sooner rather than later I will also have to brainstorm in terms of a story that I want to take to the next levels. Oh my muse, where art thou?

So instead I decided to blog about something different. Let's talk Dark Knight. I have not seen it yet but I am curious to see it. Initially I was not too thrilled about it, nor was I eager to see it, but with all the recent buzz I am at the point now where I want to see what the buzz is about. I know there has been talk about Ledger's performance, and I can tell from the trailer, that it must be extraordinary. The film's rating on IMDB seems to be out of this world and I am not sure, yet, what the reason for the high rating is. Yes, I have been told it is a masterpiece, a piece of art in terms of pretty much everything; dialogue, story, and acting. For an action film, I was also told, it has a range of emotions that come attached to it. It is not simply an action film, rather it is packed with feelings of sadness, joy, humour and smarts. I will have to see it for myself before I further comment on the box-office record-breaker. I hope the hype does not just have to do with the fact that it was Ledger's last project, because regardless of his performance, I think people should also judge it as a whole.

For some reason the week before embarking on a journey, or a trip I should say, is always quite stressful. That's exactly what is happening right now. Stress builds up but leads to a state of bliss. Without stress, a comparable feeling of bliss is difficult to obtain. Therefore, I will endure the stress, get through it and enjoy blissful times on the West Coast. Before that, however, I hope to see Dark Knight and comment on it a little bit further, with more insight and knowledge.
