leave your cultural straight jackets outside

Before anything else, let me explain my choice of font for this post, and perhaps for all future posts. You may, or may not, know but Courier is the font used in movie scripts. Along with many rules in terms of properly formatting a script, the font plays an essential part in determining whether or not someone even reads the script.

The title of this post is from an inspirational, and extremely intelligent, professor I had in an elective class which I took last term; Geography 155B - World Cities. I believe it was in the first class when Prof. Cecil discussed the course's title and said it should be called "Cities of the World" instead seeing as there are only three 'World Cities' (London, Tokyo and New York City). We discussed more than just three cities throughout the class.

I decided to give blogging another try; I believe this is my third attempt. I thought the content of a blog has no strict rules or guidelines, which is why I am giving it another try.

It would be interesting to see if people actually read what I have to write. I will post the link to my blog on my Facebook page thereby making it easily accessible for those who chose to make use of it. I am not sure if there is a way for me to know how many people have been on here as it may as well be the number of times I have previewed the blog myself. I think I will just leave it at that; people can read it if they like, if they don't I may have found a new way to write. For some reason stories don't just land in my lap for me to write them all out, in script format. Writing this may get my juices flowing and allow me to continuously work on my craft; the craft I am so desperately hoping to improve through practice.

This was it, the first post on my new blog. I think in the past I have given up after post #3, so let's see how this goes.
